Schumi for Minardi??

Recommended Posts

No-one in their right mind would

A great driver may be able to do things with a car that others can't, but an Arrows or Minardi, but I believe these things would be restricted to points, and maybe a podium or two.

agree with nichosnz here.

There is no way on this earth at this time that even schuey could claim the crown in a Minardi (god bless them) or an Arrows...

Villeneuve and Schumacher wouldn't have Minardi's best year, I'm sure - not now, anyway.

Following your logic, JV should be doing great at BAR right now

They've both experience great cars - and you can see in Villeneuve at least, that a bad/slow car can be incredibly demoralising...

Perhaps Minardi's best year is more likely to come with 2 young, talented rookies - like this year?

Your right about Villeneuve's demoralisation.

But it's never going to happen, so it was just a hypothetical suggestion based entirely on talent.

As for Schumacher, we can't make that assumption, as drivers in the past have tryed really hard in a bad car after driving a good one, so we don't know for sure if he'd react the same as Villeneuve

Verstappen after 1994, Hill after 96, and again in 99, Frentzen in 00, Alesi all the way through his career, Button 01 - it is entirely demoralising for a driver accustomed to results to have to work had for much lesser rewards...

It's quite often why you find very promising young drivers finding the going much tougher when they get to an F3000-type level, and their careers tend to peter out - they've had too much success, and just haven't been challenged, by their peers and also technically...these were the worries with people like Button, Raikkonen and Massa...

Hill did try hard in the Arrows, and the 99 car was better than the last two he'd driven so not really a bad car he was just past it (even if he was in a McLaren that year he wouldn't have been up with his team-mate)

Frentzen in 2000, he did appear to be trying but kept on being let down by reliability.

Alesi well he never really got to drive a good car, Tyrrell would be his best but probably not a great car, Ferrari were on a temporary downer, Benetton were beginning their fatal downer, so by the time he got in a Sauber he'd not ever had a great car, and would never have.

Button, well he's young and young people want to have fun so let them he has a few years left in him.
