cavallino 2 Report post Posted January 23, 2006 *suitable solemn atmosphere* This thread will mourn the death of every Mercedes engine this season. Please mantain a suitably solemn attitude throughout. January 24 The first engine expired today after 18 laps on the debut of the MP4/21 January 26 Another one seemed to be on life support today. January 27 No words needed. January 28 It is my solemn duty to announce the demise of another Mercedes engine yesterday. Kimi Raikkonen finally got back to work after 102 days outside the c#ckpit of his McLaren, but the Finn and his team did not enjoy a very good day, finishing at the bottom of the times. Raikkonen, who spent a long time in this pits while his mechanics worked on the new MP4-21, covered 65 laps on his way to the 12th quickest time of the day. His teammate Pedro de la Rosa, meanwhile, was slowest in the MP4-20 after his Mercedes engine let go early in the session. February 3 I have to continue my profoundly depressing duty. Another Mercedes engine was sacrificed today. Juan Pablo Montoya did not bring out a red flag but he suffered more engine woes as a Mercedes-Benz failure cost him four hours of running.February 4In today's session Juan Pablo continued to work on achieving longer runs and putting good mileage on MP4-21. In the morning, Juan Pablo completed two runs of 26 laps. On his third long run of the day, his engine failed and Juan Pablo stopped out on track. The test team replaced the engine, however just before Juan Pablo was due to go back out on track, an issue with the hydraulics system was identified. http://www.motorsport.com/news/article.asp?ID=209362&FS=F1 February 10 Another Mercedes engine died today sad.gif http://www.f1racing.net/en/news.php?newsID=109337 However it was not all good news for McLaren as the new V8 engine blew up right at the end of the day.February 15Kimi Raikkonen wasn't testing the MP4-21 for long. After having completed only 21 laps his Mercedes engine failed on him. His team mate Juan Pablo Montoya had less problems. He covered 79 laps today as he focussed on the long runs in the MP4-21. Please feel free to leave flowers anywhere in the thread, I shall bring them all here and put your names against them. Wreaths are available here or you may bring your own.
