F1Babe 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2001 World champion Michael Schumacher escaped unhurt after crashing his Ferrari during his test session today at the Monza circuit in Italy. The German driver, who is chasing a second successive world title and his fourth in all, came off the track at the Roggia chicane at 205mph,hitting the barriers and rolling his Ferrari. "The impact was violent," said Benetton driver Giancarlo Fisichella who was behind Schumacher when the crash happened. Michael's brother Ralf was passing the spot just after the accident took place. He stopped his Williams-BMW on the track to check his sibling was okay and was taken back to the pits by a circuit car. The Ferrari star underwent tests at the circuit medical centre, but was later well enough to return to his team's garage.
jagman 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2001 yeah, by the sound of it he was lucky not to have been injured. Imagine if he was slightly injured and had to miss a few races...would have really thrown the cat among the pigeons! (please dont read this in that I wish MS or any driver to be injured, I am just saying imagine if he was from a championship point of view)
TotalF1 SamB 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2001 I don't care you take it, but hopefully it will take the edge off him in the next few races - we need something to boost the championships if you don't want to get bored for the rest of the season - might have been nce if he'd missed a few races
GeoffandSandy 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2001 Yeah, right. Take the edge off him for a couple of races so he's only 10% better than anyone else. Good thinking, it will give the second rate drivers a chance. Why not make him drive last years car? And what's this mph stuff? The world is metric now people. Maybe that's why the Brits are so hopeless at sport. Still living in the Victorian age.
TotalF1 SamB 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2001 And all your amazingly successful Australian drivers are where? Us Brits are bad at sport because there is no support from the Government or established professionals already in the sport to encourage new talent - we can't even manage a world class circuit
jagman 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2001 erm, lets see, Brabham and Jones, um...Lets talk about the cricket now

TotalF1 SamB 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2001 Whats-his-name? You do mean Mark Webber, James Courtney? And they're THAT good!? What about Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, David Coulthard, Johnny Herbert and Eddie Irvine?? All British race winning drivers in the last decade. Australian F1 drivers winning in the last decade? Er....none. (Edited by TotalF1 SamB at 2:17 pm on July 22, 2001)
