That is really funny coming from a Schumacher fan. Ive never seen a driver who is more arrogant and firmly up his own backside than Michael Schumacher.

Unlike you we don't consider our favourite driver to be a manifestation of Him on earth. They all have their faults, being more good than bad and having qualities that you like makes you like a driver, and above all being fast is what makes us like a driver. They all have their faults, we don't feel obliged to defend or justify those. You on the other hand support DC because you think he walks around with a halo around his head, which probably excuses the fact that he's a mediocre driver by F1 standards.

ykickwill no doubt throw a lot of statistics at you now in DC's defense!!

Will do.

I dont know any medicore driver who has led 74 times during 823 laps in 57 Grand Prix's.

DC is by no means a medicore driver. A medicore driver doesnt get retained by a team like mclaren for 9 years

Mediocre driver by F1 standards I said, ie I'd place him somewhere in the middle of the current drivers or current drivers of any past year that he drove in.

OK, well DC is by no means a mediocre driver in F1 standards! Ide is the only current driver who can be described as mediocre by F1 standards. DC fully deserves to be in F1, even if he isnt considered by many to be in the top 4/5 drivers

I agree Ctrl300 - the Mika/Dennis pact didn't evidence itself until Jerez '97, when DC clearly pulled aside on the main straight with three laps to go to let Mika through (I just re-watched the race this weekend, so it is very clear in my memory). Recall as well that by that point in the race JV was a wounded duck and it was clear the McLarens had a nigh on palpable taste of the top step already.

But if there was any doubt at that point that Mika had a special place within both the team and that small lump of black coal that passes for Ron Dennis' heart, it was entirely and finally dispelled in Melbourne when DC again pulled aside to let Mika through for his first win of the '98 season.

Funkejay,

I disagree vehemently with these statements you posted about Hakkinen, and in your assesment about one of my greatest drivers of all time. Mika had a special place within the team because he deserved it, he earned his respect. Yes, i'm probably gonna be a little bit biased here, but hey that helps the cause.

Hakkinen was tremendously talented, David was asked recently who he thought the quicker driver was, Hakkinen or Raikkonen. Coulthard though Hakkinen was, and Raikkonen would surely be at his level with A FEW YEARS MORE EXPERIENCE. He added, " There were times when i looked at his (Hakkinen's) telemetry and though....oh god!!!" Certainly that expression would not bode well with a driver average or above average? Plus this comes from a reputable driver with the same equipment that could do nothing but admire the heights that Mika as a driver could achieve....

2 000 post, we would see Hakkinen get into a car that was far less competive but on a good day, still blew everyone away, he would pass Schumacher with ease. Do you agree, well, if you, did Coulthard do that?Reminded me of Senna....The driver or the car perfectly set up? You make the choice, just as you would with Schumacher at Imola last year....

Do you really know how serious Mika's accident was, it was'nt about so-called "serious shunts" which only left broken legs, but he was in a hospital bed almost at the point of no return, they said he WOULD NEVER RACE again. Backtrack to all those articles during his recovery, you will find the word MIRACLE prominent. Remember him overtaking Zonta and Schumacher at once, how's that for a fearless competitior, takes alot of courage to do a move like that. Racing for the title under pressure in 1998 at Suzuka. Strong champion character traits. Drivers went on about how "cool" under pressure Mika was. Far removed from your claims of a fragile and over-rated driver.

I would say DC got the bad(rough) end of the stick until the controversy of the Melbourne race. After that race, when Mclaren were severely criticise, you would read hopeful boasting statements about DC saying, I will win the championship this year. Statements like that would illustrate the fact that he was now FREE to equally fight for the championship. But you make it sound like a conspiracy theory, dismissing Mika's champion achievements as mere hopeful aspirations. I would really like to know what you think about MS's successes the last few years, because he did nothing but romping away in a capable car, and HE had team orders.

"Of course, there was also what has since become the infamous incident at Monza in '99 where Mika crashed while coasting to victory becuase of a silly driver error, and then proceeded to break down and weep openly amongst the trees at trackside, believing he had just lost the championship. Generally speaking, champions are made of tougher stuff than this."

Funkejay, Mika thought he lost the championship!!! No one goes on about how Shumacher cried in post-race conference because of Senna sentimentality, openly. Are champions suppose to be robots with ever dull expressions and totally unhumanlike postures. think not.

not personal funkejay, just my opinion of a great champion driver...

Not in the top 10 of F1 = mediocre in F1 terms, middle of the pack if you prefer that word.
