tifosi too! 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2006 Just to stir things up, I 'll post a lap of Hungaroring. The competition thread to follow these days!To see the lap(i hope, haven't tried it on another computer), download the file, go to program files-infogrames-grand prix 4-gp saves and paste the file. Then load GP4, go to main menu, then click load(down-left on the screen) and choose the lap you pasted in before.Hopefully it works !If it does then we 'll know how to set up the thread later! Of course this is only for those who have GP4 on their computers P.S. As i found out right now the laps have to be compressed with winzip or else they won't be uploaded!let me know if it works! Sato 0 Report post Posted August 25, 2006 I don't think it'd be fair for me to join any comp that was setup here, as I'm a wiz at the GP series. Im already in a GP3 hotlap comp, with some of the best drivers left who play it, so I've got pretty good now. GP4 is abit diferent I guess... and I haven't been in a hotlap comp for it for sometime now....

So Sato is that a challenge I hear? Nah any sort of comp would be great and atm Im playing with a keyboard but hopefully will buy some sort of controller soon. I might get one of those adaptors where you can use a ps2 controller on a PC (If that even exists ) But hopefully setting up a thread over the weekend or something would be great I dont think its been done before. And it doesnt have to be just a GP4 Rfactor players can also have their own thread aswell or something.
Sato 0 Report post Posted August 25, 2006 the PS2 -> USB adaptors exsist, we distribute them (or did?) where I work. I got mine from work.. Infact thers aout 6 of them sitting on my desk, for some reason.... I actually just tried using it in GP3, for the the Turkish GP, and I must say its hard to get right, but when you do, you can go bit faster then keyboard (or maybe its ust my style)
5P33D3V1L 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2006 Could somebody give me some links to a place where I can download some good season package mods for GP4 please. Im having trouble finding ones that look decent and trust worthy of even downloading and installing. Thank you. And Sato Id like to get one of those adaptors. I went to my local game/thatz entertainment shop and they say they only do it for Xbox controllers. :s So they think im talking aload of rubbish :s
Sato 0 Report post Posted August 27, 2006 They have them for the old SNES controllers even.... Maybe you'll need to buy online for it though? I know a place to get them in Australia only.

Well I got F1 Challenge on PS2 so that may not be the same but I still like it but it is not that realistic but I like it even though the driving is quite unrealistic. But its still good in my opinion. Thanks for the link Geordie. And Sato Im in the Uk so any where in the UK or near it would be good maybe?
Sato 0 Report post Posted August 28, 2006 Not sure mate. Online sotres would probably be the best bet. I installed an 06 mod for GP4 last night. Did you use save/restore car state? IF so you might have had it to close to the S/F line. Interesting data!!Where did you get it from??You mean you can't see the lap?It could have almost a sec faster by the way, but there was a bit of traffic and some overtaking so i chose to put this one !!It doesn't play when you load it?I have the official patch installed and i didn't start the game through the Gpx patch.I don't know if it has anything to do with that!It was just to check if the 'system' works!Apparently there are adjustments to be made!! Oh and i didn't quite understand the last part about the save/restore state so i don't know if i did anything wrong there!
Sato 0 Report post Posted August 28, 2006 Hmm... Odd then... Save/Restore state is where u push a button to 'save' the state of the game, and then if u hit another button it goes Bback to it. Ie save it before the line, and screw up ur lap half way through... hit the load button and it gos back to just before the line most hotlap comps use it, as it saves time. I used Hoxflap to get that data, and theres something wrong with it indeed, its missing crap. Perhaps try using GPxPatch?
sdoik 0 Report post Posted August 28, 2006 Just booted up GP4 again. It's been awhile, but did a few hot laps of Melbourne, my best was a 1:31.098 dunno if thats good or not. Feels like the steering was working against me... (turned all brake and steering aids off though) but maybe thats because i've been playing F1 Challenge 01 - dunno. Maybe just copying the file into the directory doesn't work in order to see the lap on video .I didn't use the save/restore thing but maybe i should start using it instead of doing the out of pits lap all the time !!I 'll start the Gpx patch and check it out!Tomorrow though as i won't be at home long enough to play today Just booted up GP4 again. (turned all brake and steering aids off though) but maybe thats because i've been playing F1 Challenge 01 - dunno. The steering especially needs a lot of calibration in order to work properly and needs testing in GP4!I use a controller though so i don't know about the rest! Also if your PC doesn't give you enough FPS the steering is not smooth and you 'll often miss the apex or the braking point.Above 25fps should be fine! After adding some Ram i became much quicker and consistent so you shouldn't blame youself if it gets frustrating

And I uploaded the Hot Lap and it worked fine for me. You did well with the traffic but your steering looks to different compared to me playing when Im using the keyboard. Sato have you got a specific brand/model name which is a good controller adaptor. So a good product name would be very useful for me so I could search web etc and maybe ask stores about it? Thank you The hotlap worked on your GP4??That's good news!!When using the keyboard the car sits on the racing line and you have no freedom to chose different lines and put the car where you want on the track! With a controller/wheel you can really sharpen your racing instinct! But after you install it you have to go to the controls menu and select the analog mode and then calibrate it!It's quite frustrating but once you get it working it's very rewarding!
