Welcome back old bean!!!

Cav its only 1 member posting racist comments, just ignore him. The forum itself is still full of interesting F1-related debate. And its a lot better than other f1 forums out there

Especially now that I've returned!!!!!!

I agree. This forum is the perfect size in my opinion. Its not to big so you dont get to know each member but its not so small that you cant have a decent discussion.

Yup.

Yes. There is also the exact ratio of knowledge over sheer passion in here so as not to be one of those boring forums out there (I've been watching the enemy  )

And like someone else said (regretfuly I don't remember whom) we are like a close-knit disfunctional family.

Yup again. I've tried to live over at atlasF1 and have gotten bored very fast. Too many people and nobody knows each other. It's like trying to have a conversation with a crowded room all at once. TF1 is a cozy place that reminds me of an American sit-com called 'Cheers'. Long may it stay that way.

yeah that is the thing of TF1 that made me come back seeing this as a dedicated f1 forum with not too many members yet enough to have a at least a fan of most drivers even luizi

some times after reading the posts of few idiots like ctrl, i would feel like not returning, I also feel the moderation is kinda biased, but honestly I don't care a Sh#t, there is no f1 site that is better than this, I feel the admins are doing a fantastic job!

The good thing about the site not being too big is that you get to know who's opinions are worth anything, and those who are not. You will have noticed by now that i endear myself to you all with my dazzling charm and personality. This makes up for the hot air and bull sh*t.

The reason you did not feel at home at atlas are threefold.

Firstly, if you want to socialise there is the paddock club, for which one has to have a certain amouts of posts and ask the moderator for access.

Secondly, your posts as 'oldtimer S' have not been of the same level as the ones you produce here, thus you have largely been ignored, whereas here one gets a discussion going no matter how obscure/degenerated posts one make.

Lastly, its a forum for F1 fans, and not a place where lonely hearts go to in order to feel part of a band. The level of F1 knowledge and actual connection is well established, thus one need to act as an adult and show understanding. That is reflected in the language, level of personal attacks (almost non-existent) and the deep insight shown by most memebers.

I voted 1,2,2. It's a shame that Cav is going away. I have missed the chance to add him as a friend on hotmail/yahoo messengers. It's my loss.

I want a reply from the moderators what action have they taken against Ctrl300. One of the most spitefully ridiculous posts of his was telling Indians to suck their d#cks in the Ferrari F2007 topic. How insanely racist can you get?

How does that solve the moderator problem? I categorically refuse to be part of a forum run by emperors pumpdoc and ecapdeville. I equally refuse to be part of a forum where members simply stand and watch this kind of discrimination or indulge in cosy pacifism. Unless something drastic happens, this I am afraid, is it.

So long, don't let the door hit you on the way out, you love to attack the mods, you cry wolf at any instance and frankly it falls on deff ears. you are like the spoiled school kid Cav, and you play right into Ctrl's hand and he knows it, you do like everyone else and ignore his idiot ramblings and he will go away, but for you to constantly attack the forum mods is in poor taste because you don't have a cluse as to what happens, goodbye cav now go cry in your pillow.

There are a lot of comments that get personal towards people who enter these forums. Three perfect example are Wez, Autoracer5, and pumpdoc.I have yet to see these 3 people get banned for their personal attacks made on other people who simply try to express an opinion whether it be right or wrong. It certainly proves there is bias directed towards some people. Thank you

If you cant take the heat get out the fire!!!

Luckily for you though... Bruce, Chris & Myself dont give a damn about your pathetic little comments so we couldn't be bothered actually paying much attention to them.

BTW, Did you know jaq that this is infact a formula 1 forum! Feel free to talk about formula 1 at any time in the future.

Was that a stab Wez? You are certainly one who has shown that personal attacks are ok, and I guess that's why you mentioned this was a F1 forum. Since christmas I've seen your true colors and look forward to debating any issue you may want to present since you have proven your relatively narrow perspective on world issues, I'm looking forward to talking about the new season, in fact it's less than 2 months before the fun begins. Go Alonso! Thanks

Are you sure you are not Cav reincarnated as an Alonso fan? Anyway you cant be all that bad being a fan of the King of F1.... yes Brad, jaq and I could become good mates 1 month into the season ;)

BTW, I dont take world issues too seriously and neither should you.... They all issues because some idiot caused them and another idiot is making them worse by trying to resolve them (Pumpdoc will agree im sure)... Rather just read the sport section of news papers!!! Hope my advice helps :D

First of all, contrary to what a lot of people have assumed, the issue does not lie with that one member. As I said, if we were allowed true free speech in this forum, I wouldn't be complaining. It wouldn't be the greatest idea in my opinion, I have seen froums like that and frankly, they go to the dogs. Perhaps though, with the kind of members we have we would avoid that fate.We don't have that though. We don't have free speech. Fair enough, certain kinds of posts are deemed to be unsuitable for the forum, for various reasons - kids and people at work may view the forum, certain poata may offend members, we don't want uncivilised behaviour on the forum, etc. Which is all well and good, I doubt if any reasonable member would object and I doubt if anyone can claim that their right to express themselves is impinged upon by these restrictions.Which is the way most forums, or most successful forums work. Which, on the surface at least is the system we have here. However, it doesn't quite work that way here. Never has, but things have just become unacceptably bad of late. A fundamental requirement of a moderated forum would of course be a consistent set of rules, or principles that would be applied, fairly and equally to every post that may need some kind of action. We never had those rules, instead it has been left to the moderators to decide as they see fit. Which brings us to the current situation. I have for months nay over an year asked the moderators to frame a set of guidelines that they will follow, and which let us know what is premissible and what isn't, and which they are themselves bound by. I have endlessly, with extreme civility asked them to justify their decisions and clarify the policy. I haev never received any commitment, I haven't even received an assurance that members would be treated equally. That would bring some accountability to the process that is sadly lacking. Which brings us to the current scenario. Many members, who have in the heat of the moment used the f word or equivalent against other members end up banned with no warnings. That is ostensibly the policy employed by our grand poobah, pumpdoc. That policy is of course unstated and unsaid, no member would signs up on the forum would have a clue about what is acceptable and what isn't. The grand poobah howeevr saw it fit to ban a member for his very first post for that offence. Fair enough, at least people are being treated equally. Or are they?

Very clever post there,a brazen attempt to move the blame and deflect the issue. The issue isn't what I said, the issue is whether a member who has previously faced censure, has consistently made posts that would get other members banned for an year or so logs on, decides to rattle off 4-5 offensive posts. With no provocation mind you, whatever Bruce might want you to believe. And our esteemed moderator here chooses to ignore it. Even after a lot of members have in this very thread have questioned your decision, you feel yourself under no obligation to either justify your decision (or non decision), or to offer a clarification of policy, of why these posts are acceptable and many like it aren't.

Memories are short, and there aer a lot of newer members. It is convenient for you Bruce to pretend that I am someone out with a vendetta against you. What you fail to mention is that when the moderators were selected, you applied and your application was rejected, you were not chosen as a moderator. It was only later when I suggested yours and ecapdeville's name and other members agreed that you were appointed. You are in your position not because of some divine intervention, the reason you are there is because the members of this forum including me put their trust in you. Which is why your behaviour is a deplorable betrayal. You owe it to the members of this forum to bring transparency into your conduct. Don't give me that "you don't know what goes on behind closed doors" talk, that you ahve been giving me for months. I know what goes on on the forum, and I do not see why there have to be secret wranglings that we cannot be privy to. What is this inner sanctum that we are denied access to, where you take your decisions by some bizarre system that is completely unfathomable to us mere mortals?

You are a representative, not the despotic monarch that you choose to emulate. If we do not know what goes on behind closed doors, and if that directly effects how people can post and are treated on this forum, we have the right to know. When you are asked for an explanation, you goddamned obliged to give one and by god have I asked you. I have asked you for months, I have sent you endless pms, all worded in utmost politeness, whatever you may like to pretend now. Until very recently I have some regard for you as a person. It is a crying shame the way you run the place like your personal fiefdom. That you feel it is your god given right to refuse point blank to answer any questions about your decisions. That this is the only reply you had to give, that you did not deign to respond to the queries raised by people other than me in this thread.

It is a huge pity because you preside over a fascinating community and a place I have come to enjoy.

PS: For all the people who are gloating away, be careful. If there is anything that motivated me to post again, it's people like you.

Good post Cav. I agree with what you say. True freedom of speech in a forum is never a good idea. I hope you dont leave the forum as i enjoy debating issues with you and it would be a huge shame if you left.

You give yourself to much credit, I never applied or asked to mod, it was only after Antonia was run off by the jackles and some other that i can't remember his name that i was asked by Wes.........

....and yes there is a mods only thread for us to discuss what go's on in this forum, as any forum has......

Sorry Cav.................

P.s. most covenant that you single me out, how about the other mods, Wes have they answered your inquiries?

But most of the supposedly "racist" topics haven't been anyway.

Throughout the world people try using the word "rasism" to get attention and/or sympathy!

It is hard to tell sometimes but some of ctrl300's comments are clearly racist. If people are punished for comments like that then i will be happy.
