England Beat Australia. In Cricket. Twice

Recommended Posts

This was funny, makes up for India's stupid loss to Sri Lanka today. I hope they don't win the world cup this time :D

England did play quite well and fully deserved the victories. However they wont be regraded as a true cricketing power until they improve their test team as their Ashes campaign was truly pathetic.

Well their one day series was tragic as well until their last 3 games. Although us playing like a bunch of school girls at times, probably made them look a little better. The rain was a bitch in the 2nd game, made it hard for me to watch, would of preferred to see the full 50 overs from both teams with no interruptions.

England were superb in the finals...

BUT, you forgot to mention the other big game of cricket yesterday... The one where South Africa beat Pakistan by 10 wickets in 14 overs. HAHAHAHHAHA

From the telegraph.co.uk

Interesting...

England have been installed as second favourites for the World Cup after sensationally unseating the mighty Australians in yesterday's one-day final in Sydney.

Exactly a month before the start of the World Cup, the same team that arrived in Australia ranked eighth and last out of the world's top nations have suddenly emerged as surprise contenders to take the trophy.

This is casting against type: at previous World Cups, England have either been nearly-men or no-hopers. But this result should have re-invigorated their whole team, and has certainly won over the bookies. Many are now quoting them level with South Africa and West Indies at 13/2.

Australia remain out in front, on 13/8, but their aura has dimmed over the past 10 days. The last time they lost three consecutive meaningful matches to any opponent was six years ago, when New Zealand produced a similar upset in what was then known as the VB Series.

My favourites

Australia,

South Africa,

Then the rest of the participants. :thumb:

Yes. Ive been following South Africa's matches against Pakistan and the South Africans were playing amazing cricket. I read somewhere that in one innings South Africa scored close to 400 which is truly massive when you consider that Pakistan is a decent team.

Australia won't be too bothered by the loss, England desperately needed it.

The Australian teamed probably eased off a bit.

Oh well, a win is a win and I guess it's something to give us some hope for next time.

I would agree with this, yes.

South Africa have won One day series against England, Australia, India, New Zealand and Pakistan (shortly) on home soil in the last year.

I wonder how similar the pitches are in SA and the Carribean?

Its gotta be between SA & Aus.

Id add New Zealand to the list of teams that have a real chance of winning the World Cup. They are apsolutely destroying Australia at the moment.

Australia were all out for 148

Now New Zealand are batting and after 20 overs they havent lost any wickets and they have scored 90 runs. New Zealand are crusing.

Australia has been trounced by New Zealand by 10 wickets and 23 overs to spare, imo this one of the worst defeats for Australia in the recent past...must be denting their confidence. I am happy for this.

Our injury list is getting very big. Im getting worried about the World Cup as the Australian team is less than half the team it was only afew weeks ago.

It's been 22 years since New Zealand last had an opening-stand of over hundred against Australia. Australia have been defeated by ten wickets for the first time in ODI history today. They were missing five key players - Ponting, Gilchrist, Clarke, Lee and Symonds - but they have been humiliated.
