la force supreme des mclaren 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 Hamilton fastest in practice 3 - Malaysia Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time in Saturday morning practice for the Malaysian Grand Prix trying Bridgestone's softer option tyres. The McLaren driver moved ahead of previous pacesetter Felipe Massa with a 1:34.811 lap around the Sepang circuit after two thirds of the session. the Ferrari driver gradually closed the gap on subsequent runs to end up 0.142 seconds behind Hamilton, despite a big tyre lock-up on his final run. Fernando Alonso was exactly half a second slower than his rookie teammate as he took third place. Championship leader Kimi Raikkonen only appeared for seven laps in his Ferrari, finishing the session fifth, between BMW's Robert Kubica and Nico Rosberg, who underlined the potential that Williams had shown on Friday. Super Aguri again upstaged the primary Honda team, with Anthony Davidson and Takuma Sato holding lower top ten positions for much of the hour, and Davidson ultimately taking eighth. Sato did not improve on his last run and dropped to 16th - still ahead of both Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello. Toro Rosso also showed promising form, with Vitantonio Liuzzi going 12th quickest. Heikki Kovalainen missed the majority of the session due to a repeat of the fuel pump problems that interrupted his practice days in Melbourne. The Renault mechanics switched his engine into the T-car in time for the Finn to manage a brief late run to take 18th on the timesheet. Pos Driver Team Time Laps 1. Shane2 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 I would be surprised if he took that option he would have to spend half of the race on sub-optimal tyres. I personally got the impression that both Ferrari and McLaren are running a split stratergy, and that in terms of fuel being carried it was Hammy > Raikkonen > Alonso > Massa I could be wrong, but Raikkonen didn't look on the pace through any of the quali session really, so I believe there is more to it than fuel
