Monaco: The Race

Something tells me I will enjoy the after race even more than the actual race :D

IN YOUR FACE, FERRARI! :P

And watch out for Renault! Cav, AJ, want some champagne?

Holy mother of mercy, this was the most boring race this season. And the distances were insane. Only 3 drivers in one lap, and the McMercs were 50+ sec. ahead of no.3 Ferrari.

I enjoyed very much the battle between the McLarens. The first taste of actul, close competition between them both (the fact that Nando finished first isn't too relevant, as it is impossible to overtake here) it gave me more insight into each driver's styles.

Will await for Mike to discuss this, as I guess a lot of people will start yelling "team orders!"

Ok,so I am the only one that didn't find it boring. :eusa_think:

definitely De La Rosa makes the races more exciting than they actually are!

edit:don't know if you know that Pedro is one of the commentators here in Spain! :P

Raikkonen obviously has no desirwe to learn, which is why he didn't go up to Michael and ask him how he did it last year. Now he's driving a Sh#t race

Yup! One more c#ck up from or for him and he and his team will have practically blown another WDC (for him).

There, what did I tell you about that Kubeetza kid. Now where is the 'put JV back in' crowd?

He is doing very well indeed.

Newey's car being beaten by his last year's car

 Newey should work for Honda.

You get porn adds during races??????? Then WTF are you aussies complaining about???? :P

The fact that they're just ads? ;)

Before the season started I never expected Mclarens to be this good considering the Ferrari-Bridgestone relation. Mclarens today were simply the class, according to me they have the best drivers lineup. Superb car control by Alonso!

Yeah I agree about the best driver line up.

Nope, I too found it quite interesting, especially up to the 2nd stops, though I wonder why you found it so fun... ;)

And you're lying. You do know that we know PDLR commentates: you just told us. :P

Why do you say this? Did you notice it too?

Lewis looked quicker in qualy than Nando, but in the race it looked another story. In each case it's very difficult to tell though, due to team orders and traffic.

What about the second pit stop, everybody was expecting him to stay longer in track but he was called in. some more laps out and he would be in fornt of Alonso after the stop and he was faster than alonso after that stop so he could have been the winner of this race, he was the only one who put some emotion to this race by pressuring Alonso.

Ron Dennis said that after the first pit stop he told both of them to slow down, so for 2/3 of the "race" we weren't watching a true battle.

That's really sad for the sport. :mf_tongue:

yeah, the same race but with the Ferraries at the front and Nando in Kimi's place would have been quite boring for me :P

and...are you saying that I know that you know that I know that you know that he commentates? That's so...that's so... :mf_tongue::mf_tongue:

 no,I didn't know you knew it,honestly!!

that is team orders, at that point of the race he took the decision for his two drivers to finish in that order, there is no way that you can fight for position while you slow down, when they were told that everything was set to finish like that, if this is not team orders then what is it?

PDLR said that he pitted earlier to protect himself from a SC situation.Lewis knew he couldn't catch up with Alonso and he wanted to ensure his 2nd place.

he wasn't with the other commentators today, because he had to do some work at McLaren,he was somewhere with the team...dunno.So he wasn't 100% commentating today.but I assure you he said it. :P

Yeah on reflection I tend to believe Big Ron D on this. There's the possibility he was playing games, as Mark B said, but also Nando said in the P conference it was an easy drive, and Lewis' times were very erratic in the first stint. When he posted a fast time suddenly, Alonso also seemed able to reply immediately. In addition Lewis' move at the start may have been a team tactic, and as Schumikonen said, you could interpret the early pit stop for Lewis as another tactic. Finally, Lewis' driving style seems to have been much more calm than on Saturday. In themselves I guess you could write all of these things off, but together they make me think that probably both McLaren drivers had a bit more speed.

If this is the case then you have to go back to qualy, to guess their relative speeds, and considering his fuel load Lewis looked a little quicker to me, throughout the session. There was very little in it though, and it's very hard to tell as there was so much traffic.

*Actually he said that from at least lap 10 they were "controlling" it, I thought?

Elgo, you get PDLR as a commentator? Lucky you!

The highlight of latinamerican comments came when one of the commentators (our own version of MW  ) said something like "running in Monaco is like chasing a girl with a chastity belt, you can get on her tail, smell her ( ) but you never get in".

Don't ask me what those guys smoke...

Full credit to Alonso, he didn't put a foot wrong and showed true class.

Credit to Speed too, I'm first to jump on him when he messes up so I'll be first to give him some credit to. Great race from him.

Annoyed with Honda's strategy and Webber's retirement.
