well this could make ppp difficult. Have ferrari really got the edge on mclaren this weekend? Would be nice in a way if ferrari do get a strong result, to keep the championships a bit more open.

Not sure what STR are trying to prove

Mid field looks very tight. Webber got screwed over with his car dying with 50 minutes left.

Doesn't look like Honda have improved as much as they wanted... Poor Button :(

A great natural talent being wasted

Unless we are ready to accept that Speed's STR is faster than Hamilton's McLaren, I'd say that these times are even more meaningless than usual. Seems like they all are running very different prgrams.

The only thing that seems clearer than the rest is that Ferrari looks as if they have found more speed this weekend. Perhaps a 4-drivers contest for sunday? :clap3:

Only if Liuzzi beats them both :P Besides, it would be more rewarding to watch that at Silverstone. Poor Lewis! It's not his fault the media went hysterical over him.

What he says is his fault though :P

What he says is his fault though :P

What has he said that is so damnable. Can you think of the sheer level of smugness, conceit and arrogance that he could very rightfully exhibit? Look at DC's remarks in another thread, look at Button's remarks about how he can be world champ, ditto Barrichello, Fisichella, Massa etc. Hammy could say far more than any of hem, and he won't be any of the three words I used. He'd simply be right.

That is completely different. Talking up your own performances is not nearly as bad as insulting half the field as "monkeys." None of the drivers you mentioned have ever said anything as derogatory as that.

I think Ferrari have the edge over McLaren. Ron Dennis was quoted as saying this today (Source: itv-f1.com):

"A reasonable Friday practice despite a few minor glitches this morning, but we still made significant steps forward," [Ron Dennis] said.

"However there is still room for improvement and we will be working very hard overnight to ensure we are in the best possible shape for tomorrow

Stupid thing to say. But an exception rather than the rule in his case. I would be far more concerned about a driver who feels his team discriminates against him for being of a different nationality, than one who says something so obviously tounguei n cheek, even if it is in bad taste.

I think this season has shown us Button's true form. Any truly great driver will, to some extent be able to drive around a bad car, and I think jenson's problems this year when the car balance hasn't been there hilight one of the things he has missing from his armoury. I am not saying I expect him to still be at frontrunning pace, but driving around a problematic car is clearly not something he can do which is why, for my money, he will never be considered one of the greats

After reading the press conference and what Todt said, I think we will be back to the normal pecking order in the qualifying, but I hope there is way less gap between McLaren and Ferrari or rather nothing at all. Betting for qualy anyhoo, is really difficult now... hmm. I wonder if Rosberg will be the positive surprise of the race. <_<

Considering where Williams was at last year, Rosberg can do nothing but be a positive surprise... ^_^

I think Ferrari have the edge over McLaren. Ron Dennis was quoted as saying this today (Source: itv-f1.com):

The last sentence is the most telling. He mentioned 'room for improvement' and 'best possible shape' for qualy. Also, in that same article I linked above, Alonso mentions that he will be working again on set-up tomorrow....not uncommon I suppose but all of that points to McLaren being behind Ferrari. I expect a Redwash on Sunday.

I read the same article which I picked up the same vibe from Ron. I made my PPP predictions accordingly. With the Ferrari duo featured above the McLaren duo!

Yup. I doubt there is much significance to those times at all.

Interesting analysis Mike. You might well be right of course. I'm still unsure which way it'll go, so I'll predict a closer fight than in the past 3 races but with McLaren still being faster overall!

I expect McLaren where sandagging their pace to an extent, but I believe that overall the Ferrari is the faster car around Magny Cours, and they do have a teriffic record there

I think the Ferraris are quicker this weekend, and I hope so too. I dont want the Mclarens to run away with title. I want to see a close fight, till the final race of the season. That would be more fun to watch.
