Rekindle Your Love For Tf1

Recommended Posts

I'm currently regrouping, prior to making an amphibious assault on the forum armed with bushels of wit and bonhomie, and zero tolerance for morons. See you soon.

I must warn you, the defenders are armed and dangerous. We are going to overwhelm your offensive with silly comments, text speak, furious non sequiturs and utter ignorance.

(BTW "bushels"?? Do you still use those measure units?)

Before anybody else feels left out of my list  I just chose the ones that used to post the most and now aren't posting as much. Many others make this forum great and are as important, just that they don't post as much.

Anyways, why would anybody care who is in my list??? Go ahead! Make yours!

Why I've pretty much stopped posting is because every time you attack pres. Bush you are attacking us American posters, show me where we (Americans on this board) attack your leaders, that's right you cannot. You paint us all with your broad brush and frankly I'm tired of it....................................

If that is what you think, then it's a shame, Bruce. BTW, I replied to your post in the other thread. We do not attack the Americans, most people here has a great friendship regardless of their nation. We might criticize USA's politics, because they have a global impact. Argentina can do pretty much what they want and the only member of the forum that might complaint is Katy, because she lives in the only country we could make something resembling an impact. You live in the world's leader country, what do you expect?

All this has nothing to do with our respect and friendship for you or any of the American members of the forum. You and I have opposite views about politics, economy and even F1. Does that mean that we must hate each other? I told you many times you have my deepest respect because of your ethics, goodwill and dry sense of humour (and yes, for this once, fukc Cav and his opinions about you  I never shared his views on you anyways) We can disagree, but that is not the same as disrespect.

Jem and I don't agree on many things, ditto for Cav, Muzza, Mike and many others. Abbas is muslim and I am jewish. Yet we all get along fine. I don't condone gratuitous atacks done with the sole intention of provoking people, but reasoned criticism, even if wrong by our standards, is something we need to deal with.

Now give us your fiercest smile and yell in a gruff voice! :D

If it makes you feel better you can attack Australia's Prime Minister. He looks like a 75 year old Harry Potter, is about as tall as a hobbit and loves using fear tactics to win elections. He is also one of the biggest arse lickers of all time sucking up to every big nation in the entire world. Attack him as much as you want, I know i do :P

I always hate having to agree with you, but it's even worse in this case because it involves admitting that the whole sport is a mess, but you are right. Why don't you post in the "Fia Unveils Radical Plans For 2011" thread"? It would warm the c#ckles of my heart for we two to argue the same side for once!

Yup! They were a huge loss to the forum, in terms of knowledge and "rhetorical vigour", shall we say..

Pretty scary thought, us on the same side. Actually without my fanatical following of JV, I think you and I are more like minded then you want to believe

Although the UK is now metricated, I kept a few of the old units for the nostalgia. I also have a quantity of rods, poles, perches and furlongs in my shed. I could let you have some for a few groats.

Typical Andres!

Well, it is true!

When I first joined TF1 I remember having heated arguments with guys like Dan (Bajo39), ctrl300, and Autoracer, and even Mike (the priest) :P but I took my time to understand that they are totally from a different world and some guys here are so ignorant. The only reason why I was able to hold on was because I had Indian Army supporting me. :D

The new members have not made a long stay either. As soon as they join, they start bashing drivers by just throwing the Sh#t the press puts out. Like Hamilton's fans accusing Alonso for ranting and vice versa. Pretty stupid. The classic battle fought by Kimi, Micheal and Alonso seem to belong to a golden era. I think a little abuse must be tolerated as long as it does not get racist or religious.

Then there are certain members who cant accept the way things are. They act like kids who grew up indoors in an air conditioned building where there was never a sign of dirt, smell of sweat, rusted piece of metal or even a leak in their building's ceiling. These are the kind of guys who can never cope up with a power failure.

I think, guys with a little common sense must learn the accept that those guys are like that only, and move on and ignore the posts. Which means, I have been ignoring so many posts/threads where discussions look like a porn forum. (forgive me once more, I admit I myself have posted not so good things for which I deserved a ban  ) The quality is going down.

I dont really mind if the grammar is not so correct as it is an international forum. But please don't type German or French! :.

Yep, you can type Italian, as I am trying to learn that language :P .

No one these days are discussing too much tech. The only tech discussion I see is bashing FIA and Max. And when I do try to bring a discussion not many are interested in posting much, the thread even gets diverted. Only few guys are actually trying to go a lil HI-TECH. Guys like Mike (if he becomes Max, he is going to make F1 a real circus to watch! ), Steve, c21 (sorry man, dont know your name), and few new posters. I dont really know where are guys like Wez. I think even he used to go a little tech. Well, then we have Cav. Ask him to sniff out any thing a team other than ferrari are using which he suspects are illegal, he would bring it out! , funny thing is that, he is capable of proving it!

My real name is Ross.

Its nice to be mentioned in a couple of peoples lists.

Sorry I haven't been posting lately as I am traveling a lot at the moment. :(

This is a great thread, and I hope it goes some way to bringing back the good old days.

All I ask is that we stop bitching about crap!

Its not too much to ask if you really want it.

I don't think that at all, Bruce, or am I to infer from your statement that when you create a thread about soccer hooliganism, that you are attacking me personally as a soccer fan?

I have never taken it as personal attack, as I assumed you didn't mean it that way, nor should you think that people not liking Bush is a reflection of you, or Americans in general, because it's not.

Oh no, thanks! I'm more into biblical units. If you could let me have an omer I would be grateful. (The omer is the tenth of an ephah, if that makes it clearer for you)

Well, so far I am amazed with two things: the fact that so many people had something to say in this thread (I thought it would be just a handful of posts) and the fact that many people seems not to like the thing I like the most about this forum: the off topics. :(

I am no expert in forums, this is the only one I really have dared to participate with more than a couple of posts, but I've seen some other F1 forums and, although many of them are more focused on technical F1 or, at least, have less posts on other topics (and mostly, other motorsports), none of them had the richness of topics this forum has, and usually TF1 threads get very interesting because we have a lot of well informed people with loads of insightful comments.

Of course, controversy is an inherent part of this. For the record, I don't think the level of bitching and moaning here is any worse than in any other forum. To use Bruce's example, almost every forum on earth about anything must have at least a hundred of posts about Americans and America's foreign policy and wars.

Not many forums have threads on different kinds of tea.

No forum had a post with a pic of Steve naked!! (Yes, Eric, that trick was tried before as you can see)

Really. I thought England still used alot of imperial measurements. I know you still use miles instead of the metric kilometres which made me think that you probably use inches and feet instead of centimeters and metres.

I'm afraid that, after searching the shed, I cannot provide you with your omer. Could have sworn I saw one behind the lawnmower, but it turned out to be a peck. Never mind.

And, I love the off topicness (is that a word?) and tangential posting here. what I can't stand is the childish name calling and pig headedness of a few. The "my dad's bigger than your dad" style of argument. So there.

Oh dear, I appear to be back.

Yes, it is a bit odd. The Queen's highway is still measured in imperial units (ie miles and yards) whereas all other measurement is in metric units (since 1971). It's actually illegal to use signs with metric distances on them. Of course, a cricket pitch is still imperial, being 22 yards.

I think i know what you mean. Even Australia which is 95% metric still uses the imperial system for some things like weighing babies, a persons height and measuring your penis :P

Always measure your knob in metric - it gives bigger numbers.

Seriosuly, Russ, having you back must have put a smile in more than one of the members. Not the female ones, mind you, they are all under the effect of my charms (yeah, I measure my charms in milimeters...works everytime!)
