Where To Hold The Aussie Gp

Recommended Posts

I have driven the Bathurst circuit in real life and also on the computer in an F1 car and to me this would be the MOST AWESOME race track for a GP to be held on.

It has very substantial pit areas, thanks to the V8's, has high speed straights etc with the necessary safety runoff areas, but it also has the Mountain with some safety run off areas, but I liken the Mountain section to a normal inner city Road race that runs between concrete barriers, like Surfers Paradise , without ANY safety run-off areas!

So in my opinion Bathurst has the "Best of Both Worlds" combined city track driving (over the mountain) with High speed straights and very fast corners.

It would be AWESOME to see the current F1 cars compete at Bathurst. All the infrastructure is there just may need a bit of fine tuning.

It is truly a DRIVERS circuit, make a mistake and you will pay the price, is ther anything wrong with that ?

What do you guys think?

Maybe I'm completely wrong here, but I get the feeling there is no way f1 cars would be able to drive through the mountain area because of the extremely steep slopes and camber changes. Wouldn't the front wings be ripped off the cars?

I doubt it. How close is Bathurst to the city and metropolitan areas?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Victoria will hold onto if they know what is good for them (and me, lol). But seriously, this figure is interesting as it doesn't establish the benefits financially of the event in regard to jobs, hotels, restaurants etc. The Formula One event is more than a race and always has been and its been great for Victoria. What they have to do is better determine the expenses to hold the event and there are many areas to touch.

ok maybe i exaggerated a bit, but the V8's often drive through the mountain area with one wheel in the air, and i'm not so sure an f1 car can afford to not have all 4 wheels on the track at one time

I guess the designers would have to cope with that fact, if it would pose a problem, which I doubt!

Bathurst should stay as Bathurst is. Our touring car championships biggest race of the year. Thats the only time I want to see this wonderful track.

I would love to see the formula 1 at Bathurst as it is the best track in Australia and arguably one of the best tracks in the world. The track has everything you could want on a racetrack and it would be really interesting to see how the engineers set up their cars as the bottom of the circuit is very fast and free flowing while on top of the mountain it is reasonably slow anf tight.

We are dreaming here guys.

The infrastructure is just not there to hold the race reasons:

1) No International airport (Sydney is 4 - 5 hours away)

2) No decent accommodation available

3) No entertainment

4) No Grandstands or places to have massive grandstands

The F1 supporter is vastly different from the V8 Supporter not to insult anyone I love both series but the best way to say it is F1 is white collar and V8 Supercars are blue collar. F1 supporters are not going to camp in the wind and the rain the dust and all the other crap you have to endure. The F1 is more of a place to be seen and an event to go to yuppie so to speak once again no insults intended.

I attend both events every year so I like to think I'm in a good position to comment on Bathurst and Albert Park.

Its closer to 2 hours. 3 hours tops.

2) No decent accommodation available

Hay the Bathurst Inn is great accommodation. After the GP Kimi could spend time at the pub watching the football :D

3) No entertainment

The entertainment could easily be moved to Bathurst

4) No Grandstands or places to have massive grandstands

Not yet but Bathurst has been upgraded alot in recent years so big Grandstands might not be far away.

Oh ok 2 - 3 hours then never driven that way. It's 13 odd hours from Brisbane where I come from.

In Bathurst there is no good accommodation where you could sleep high profile clients. Let alone the crowds that don't want to camp.

What would you move to Bathurst a Casino and trendy strip like St. Kilda, all the awesome restaurants?? I think not.

There is no reason they would place fixed grandstands there.

Don't get me wrong it's just never going to happen.

make a mistake and you will pay the price

that is the reason why F1 cant have Bathurst, its too dangerous. These days the drivers have it too easy, with huge run-off areas. I'd also love to see F1 at Bathurst, but it wont happen.

Imagine being in an F1 car going down that long downhill straight though, it'd be hard not to wet your panties!

What about the Peter Brock Hotel which is getting built on the exit of the chase.

It would be Great for the teams and the drivers all they need to do is walk 300 meters and there there in their garages.

What Lap time would a F1 car get around Bathurst I wonder, I wrecon 1:40 flat would do the trick.

I would love to see F1 go to bathurst but if the Iemma Government (the N.S.W Premier) have anything to do with it, the race would be probally run at Boring old Eastern Creek.

The other track in Australia I wold like to see F1 go to would be Phillip Island. It is extremely safe fast flowing dircuit, but I guess the Track Facilities are outdated judging by the T.V.

What does everyone think about The Surfers Paradise G.P, I think that the Facilities are a little out of touch for Formula one, and turn 1, 2 chicane has the recepie for a Massive mother and father of an accident .

I haven't heard anything on the T.V News about the G.P moving or the loss in money (in Sydney that is), In Australia we get such poor F1 exposure

don't we.

All it is is Cricket, cricket cricket...

But in saying that I guess, you would have to see it like this, they build a 200 million dollar Australian track in Perth where Perth is there all by its self with the Red Bull air race, Perth is the only major city on the western side of Australia so the crowd figures wouldn't be that massive, compared to Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne on the eastern side of Australia and also where the profit in building a 200 million dollar track if only you may loose 34 or so million dollars a year.

But in saying that the election campain is on and Kevin Rudd will put the Australian money anywhere, even a motorsprot facility :o:P:fisticufs:

I have no idea what either leader will do. They are both lying w#nkers and its kind of hard to predict what they are going to do next.

Luckily for me I don't have to worry about voting for either one of them yet in this election.

Yep well Philip Island can host the MOTO GP, and ship all the un official, Prima Donnas to the circuit so why not hold the GP there, is a great track and would test the best of F1, given the changing weather conditions, but alas there are no SUBSTANTIAL poser type hotels near bye. Thats what it all comes do to in reality, POSING for those up the top, they dont give a Sh#t about the racing as long as they have their Latte's and have cameras everywhere to photograhp them, like whio is interested in the racing ?

only the bloody fans that pay the money

Formula 1 at Bathurst!!!???? It will never happen. The track is way to undulating for for the F1 cars. Can you imagine a F1 car coming through the Dipper at God knows what speed. The car would be ripped apart!!!

As for Surfers, I just can't see the QLD government taking on Victoria's massive debt. I would love to think that F1 would be just down the road from where I live but the government won't support 2 international events and the bills that come with them.

Please God let me be wrong on this!!!

Bathurst is'nt bad. That's in 1 of the pre-owned games I bought 2 eeks ago, ToCa Race Driver 3. Features loads of racing lasses including V8 Supercars & Aussie traks like Bathurst, Adelaide, Eastern Creek, dunno if Albert Park is in it.

They should hold the aussie GP somewhere in Australia...

Bathurst would be best, but that ain't gonna happen, Surfers Paradise would be good and of course Adelaide would be amazing.
