Grabthaw the Hammerslayer 4 Report post Posted December 5, 2007 Katy deserves more credit for she speaks Deutsch which has nothing in common with Portuguese or Spanish! Ah well the single most useless phrase I was taught in my German lessons was: Du Bist Ja Pudelnass = why, you're wet through! Now *you* try using that when you are abroad (several black eyes later....) One thing which always got us giggling when a wee lad was the German word Wanken, which in my lesson book meant "to come slowly" (!) Does make you wonder if that is the root of the *other* similar sounding word...

elgo 1 Report post Posted December 5, 2007 What sort of bathrooms have you been in???? No, wait, don't answer that It was indeed dirty. I love portuguese too. What I like of it is the musicality, and the contrast between different "s" sounds. Something like "s" and "sh",I guess. I'm a complete ignorant about written Portuguese,I have sometimes listened to people talking, but I don't know anything about spelling or grammar... And yeah,it's relatively easy for Spanish speakers to understand it.
Kati 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 just true. in my city we use 'sh' and s

Did you know that to us men, women's voices sound musical, like sing-song, which is why we don't always hear you when you ask us to do stuff, especially whilst watching F1 or footy. You say something and we hear beautiful background music
Max Mosley 2 Report post Posted December 6, 2007 Exactly Paul. A woman's voice is a thing of exquisite beauty. Almost as beautiful as peace and quiet even. And I wonder, do the more multicultural members of the forum know any good sites to hear nice-sounding talking in other languages. Like especially poetry in Spanish/Portuguese etc, or singing?
