Ah, Romance....

Recommended Posts

Talking with bunch of friends/reunion type thing over last weekend, the subject of this thread came up - and yes, all the women were between 30 and 48 (so 80's 70's, 60's music was almost sure to figure). The women voted for.........

Sonny and Cher, 'I Got You Babe' - they say it was because of the times associated with it as well as the way it was sung. So do we find the most romantic (or most moving) music, that attached to important/memorable parts of our pasts?

Go figure....

Nothing stirrs my soul like the 2nd movment of Devorak's Symphony No.9 (The New World)

Any of Bach's cello suites are also pretty romantic. (Especially if its Yo-Yo Ma playing).

For modern tunes, I love the smooth sounds of Stan Getz playing Jobim (bossanova). - That's what gets the old lady in the mood :naughty:

Good classic choices. I've never been a fan of Getz, though.

To get women in the mood I recomend the songs of the Hitler Youth, and Smack My Bitch Up, from Mosley's latest record: "Ze Ron Dennis needs more of ze punishment: Max's Greatest Hits"

Where We Start from David Gilmour's On an Island?

Written as a birthday present for his wife no less. It's almost childish but isn't that what being in love is all about?

Nein but I hear that a certain FIA Official's favourite is "I lost my heart to a S.S. Trooper..." :D

Actually this post of mine got me thinking - what would his favorite songs be?

- Hit me with your rhythm stick (Ian Dury)

- Love is a battlefield (Pat Benetar)

- Ooh to be aah (Kajagoogoo)

- Whip it (Devo)

- What's love gotta do with it? (Tina Turner)

- I can't get no... satisfaction (Rolling Stones)

- Do you really want to hurt me? (Culture Club)

- King of Pain (Police)

- Guilty (Barbra Streisand)

- (Hit me)... baby one more time (Britney Spears)

- Rise to the occasion (Climie Fisher)

- Please release me let me go (Englebert Humperdink)

:D
