Ferrari revert to old suspension after Barcelona issues

Ferrari are to run with their old suspension in practice tomorrow after fears it cost the Italian team dearly in Barcelona. Two weeks ago, the suspension was altered as part of an upgrade, but it’s been suggested that it hampered tyre management.

Both Ferrari’s failed to get on the podium in Spain and despite matching Mercedes prior to Barcelona, it seemed as if they’d dropped back.

During the post-Spanish GP test, Ferrari attempted to discover what made the difference.

“It is fair to summarise that Barcelona was not a strong race for us,” Vettel said.

“So it was good we had the opportunity on Tuesday/Wednesday to get into the race situation again to understand a bit better with times and laps.”

The suspension is, so far, the only thing we know they’ve changed going into the Monaco Grand Prix. So it is likely that this is what caused the Ferrari to dip in pace.

“There are a couple of ideas we have and things we believe that may have caused a weak race or weak pace during the race," added Sebastian.

“But for here it is not that relevant because it is a completely different track.”
