Fernando Alonso has won the 24 Hours of Le Mans on his first ever time there, but the Spaniard admitted that it was "very intense" to get there.

Alonso won the race with his two colleagues Sebastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima in a fairly straight-forward race where the biggest competitor was the other Toyota. Still though, it's never easy to see out a 24-hour race, Alonso explained.

"It's an amazing feeling," Alonso said when being interviewed after his win.

"I'm still a little bit in shock.

"It was an intense 24 hours.

"[I'm] just trying to enjoy every single second of this moment."

You could tell how much this win meant to Alonso, who is now another step closer to the illustrious 'triple crown'. The only person ever to complete the triple crown (winning Le Mans, the Indy 500 and an F1-title/the Monaco GP) is still Graham Hill, who did it over 50 years ago. Alonso now 'just' has the Indy 500 to go. Juan Pablo Montoya only has Le Mans missing, and he competed this year, but unfortunately didn't make it to the end.
