The curse has finally been lifted for Toyota, as the team finally won the 24 Hours of Le Mans after failing to close the race out in the final hours on so many occasions, and the Japanese team is more than happy with the result.

Rob Leupen, team principal at the Japanese team, found it hard to describe how it felt to finally pull through on the biggest race in the world.

"It's hard to put into words, but we finally did it," he smiled to Motorsport.

Toyota completed the one-two as well, which maybe had something to do with the fact that they didn't have any real competition this year that pushed them to their limits.

"Every year is different here," Leupen continued.

"That's the beautiful thing about Le Mans, the unique experience, and setbacks are part of it."

He singled out Fernando Alonso's performance as one of the best ones as well.

"His performance was exceptional, because he's a rookie here.

"Especially at night."
