Brendon Hartley believes that luck has been against him in recent weeks and believes he can recover.

Hartley saw his British Grand Prix hopes squandered by various issues that were out of the Toro Rosso driver's control.

The 28-year-old missed Qualifying due to a left-front suspension failure early on Saturday morning.

The Toro Rosso engineers worked hard for his car to be ready for the race, a slight issue not long before the race, prevented the New Zealand born driver from competing at Silverstone.

Hartley's bad luck has meant that he's only seen the chequered flag once in Formula One's much spoken about 'triple header'.

This came in the French Grand Prix a couple of weeks ago.

Hartley retired in Austria, as well as Great Britain.

The Toro Rosso driver only has the single point to his name in the standings, after ten races, thanks to his tenth placed finish in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

"I'm not a believer in luck or superstition, but I think it's definitely fair to say that the last few weeks have been unlucky for me," Hartley told TheCheckeredFlag.co.uk.

"It was all out of my control this weekend - the suspension failure yesterday in FP3, and another technical issue today before we could even start the race, so there's not too much to comment on the past two days.

"It's disappointing, but I'll hit the reset button now, take a couple of days to relax and prepare for the next race.

"I've got full trust that all of the people in Toro Rosso will be working hard over the next two weeks, as will I, to improve and show our maximum in Hockenheim."
