Nico Rosberg believes Ferrari’s engine is the difference this season in their battle with Mercedes.

The former World Champion believes that Mercedes’ engine is just not as powerful as Ferrari’s this year and that explains the gap.

Rosberg claims that his former team mate Lewis Hamilton is finding it difficult to meet Sebastian Vettel’s standard and this is because of the extra horsepower that Ferrari possess.

“I know from an insider source why Ferrari are so strong,” the 2016 World Champion revealed.

“They have found more power from their engine.

“The turbo has been upgraded and more recharging is happening for additional power.

“It’s a small advantage at this time but Ferrari has done a good job.”

Rosberg has also questioned Hamilton’s interest in football all of the sudden.

The retired driver believes that the Mercedes driver could be getting unnecessary distractions from his title push because of the FIFA World Cup, that’s currently underway.

Hamilton revealed that he wanted to skip Saturday’s press conference so that he could watch his country England take on Sweden in the quarter-finals.

He’s also revealed that he’s keeping July 15th clear so he can travel to Russia for the final.

“Lewis is not really a football fan,” Rosberg claimed to Bild Newspaper.

“It’s all a bit of a show. That’s part of his image.”

Despite this, Rosberg believes that Hamilton will still win the title.

“I keep thinking that Lewis will get the title. Mercedes are incredibly strong as a team,” Rosberg said.
