Riccardo: "Hard for me to be convinced there is a better option than Red Bull"

Daniel Ricciardo moves ever closer to extending his stay at Red Bull. He still remains without a 2019 deal, but he himself says it's looking more likely that he'll stay with his Austrian team. The 29-year-old has been linked to teams all over the paddock including Mercedes and Ferrari.

Right from the first race of this season, the Australian was given questions about his contract. But it's only now that he has started to give hints about where he will end up. The Red Bull driver has won two races, China and Monaco, this season. He is currently fourth in the drivers' standings.

"It is obviously looking more, and more likely I will remain. But there still hasn't been pen to paper, and we are just trying to get a few last things sorted," said Ricciardo in an interview on wtf1.

Mercedes have been saying things very similar throughout the duration of the season. Both Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas are still without confirmation for 2019. But even Ricciardo is almost certain they will both stay put.

"Not every door has closed, but it is looking more and more likely that the other teams [Ferrari and Mercedes] will remain with their lineups," Ricciardo added.

"I don't have the facts on that, but if you can read between the lines. So if they are not possible, it's hard for me to be convinced there is a better option than Red Bull."

Ricciardo has been at Red Bull since 2014. He said earlier in the season, he wants to be in a car which has the opportunity to win the World Championship. We don't think Red Bull will be too pleased with that!
