Carlos Sainz admits that there is pressure on him and his Renault team ahead of the German Grand Prix next weekend.

Sainz has admitted to feeling the pressure ahead of the race that sees the return of the Hockenheimring after a year out of the sport.

The French team are fourth placed in the constructors' championship, but with Haas and Force India both having strong races in Austria last month and Renault couldn't force one driver into the top ten.

Renault responded at Silverstone with a sixth placed finish for Nico Hulkenberg, but a DNF for the Spaniard.

This result means Sainz is heading to Germany all too aware of the pressure that is now piled on his team.

"We have lots of things we need to analyse, as the midfield battle is getting tighter and tighter," Sainz told F1i.

"These last few rounds have highlighted that trend.

"We need to keep pushing to secure the fourth place in the constructors' championship.

"Our current fourth place could be threatened if we don't keep up the hard work.

"We had a really good two-thirds of the race at Silverstone and it was a pity we couldn't bring more points home."
