Haas driver Kevin Magnussen has likened McLaren's Fernando Alonso's radio complaints to footballer's Neymar's play-acting in the World Cup.

Alonso was furious with Magnussen at the British Grand Prix and complained about the Haas driver in two separate sessions at Silverstone.

The Spaniard accused Magnussen of "very dangerous driving" in FP1 and also accused Magnussen of forcing him off the track in the race and told his team: "What I see from Magnussen I never saw in my life."

Magnussen saind he had "no idea" if Alonso had a personal problem with him ahead of the German Grand Prix this weekend.

The Dane did however liken Alonso to Brazil football player Neymar, who has had his controversies in the past, especially at the recent FIFA World Cup of 'diving' and faking injuries.

"He does complain a lot on the radio," Magnussen told Motorsport.com.

"But, I mean, we see it in other sports as well.

"Even great athletes like Neymar and stuff, they exaggerate a bit."

Alonso called for the stewards to penalise Magnussen during the race at Silverstone.

"I think that the stewards didn't react, or the race director didn't react at all, so I don't need to comment on that one," Magnussen's boss Guenther Steiner said.

"For sure, Fernando is doing his job, he is one of the best drivers and he is very good in all aspects.

"He has been doing it a long time, he knows which button to push, so he tried.

"For sure he is trying to get the most for himself and it didn't work two weekends ago."
