Brendon Hartley expresses his delight at finishing tenth thanks to a good weather call by his team Toro Rosso.

Toro Rosso's Brendon Hartley doubled his championship tally yesterday with thanks to a tenth place finish at the Hockenheimring.

The Kiwi started down in P16, but managed to climb his way up the grid to finish in the points, in the middle of a fierce midfield battle.

Hartley said that his experience in driving in wet weather conditions was to thank as he avoided some of the chaos that occured once the showers hit Germany.

"I'm happy with how today went," Hartley told F1i.com after the race yesterday.

"I lost some time behind the Williams at the beginning but I had some fun battles out there.

"The team called me to box under the rain to pit for intermediates, but I just had a feeling to go one more lap.

"It's fine margins we work with, but it worked out today. Really happy with my race today."

The Toro Rosso man was ninth with six laps to go and was overtaken by Romain Grosjean and Carlos Sainz Jr. - however, Sainz was given a 10-second penalty meaning Hartley shared some of the points.

"I was disappointed to lose a place to Grosjean, but he had a lot more pace than me," Hartley added.

"I kept it clean and we made the right call to brave it and stay out when the rain came.

"The team and myself had great communication during the changing conditions and in the end it paid off.

"I also used some of my experience from endurance racing to help make the call, so I'm really happy with the race I did and to bring home one point."
