If F1 teams were Premiership Rugby teams!

If F1 teams were Premiership Rugby teams!

With the English Rugby union season fast approaching and the F1 summer break coming towards the tail end, we thought we'd cross over the two sports.

Mercedes - Exeter Chiefs

Both are relatively new in the top flight and have a quickly worked their way to the summit. Mercedes have had the upper hand over Ferrari for the last four years, but over the last 6 months, that seems to have slipped. You could say the same about Exeter and Saracens. To add to it, bosses Toto Wolff and Rob Baxter act in similar ways.

Ferrari - Wasps

Not so much right now, but certainly over the last decade or so. The Italian team were dominant with Michael Schumacher in the mid-2000's, the same decade as which Wasps won three Premiership's in a row and two European titles. The reds also have, over the past, had a little of an extra spice and an extra bit of flash, something the Coventry club have nowadays.

Red Bull - Leicester Tigers

Big guns, big names, big following. But just recently, they can't bridge the gap to the top. The Austrian team have successful weekends, but can't string together results because they're underpowered. In a similar way to how the flare and drive which once made Welford Road successful, no longer produces the trophies it once did.

Renault - Gloucester

These two are both developing and rising back up to the top of the sport. They're just doing it rather slowly. In 2018, the Cherry and Whites demonstrated a lot of promise. They both share big-name signing with Daniel Ricciardo and Danny Cipriani. If they can both successfully use these, they'll start to challenge the bigger teams.

Haas - Newcastle Falcons

Many expected these two teams to be lingering at the bottom of their respective leagues. The Falcons surprised everyone and managed to claim the best of the rest spot in rugby last year. While Haas, they're also developing and improving at an impressive rate.

McLaren - Bath

Once at the top of the sport and now lying low. They have managed to keep hold of some big names. It's just that something isn't working correctly.

In addition; Sauber - Bristol, Toro Rosso - Sale Sharks, Williams - Harlequins.
