Toro Rosso driver Pierre Gasly believes the damage his car received from clashes with Fernando Alonso and Daniel Ricciardo compromised his race on Sunday.

Gasly, who is Ricciardo's replacement next season at Red Bull, finished the Italian Grand Prix in P14, following contact from the before-mentioned drivers.

Following the safety car restart, Gasly clashed with Alonso's MCL33; which consequently resulted in damage to Gasly's floor and a second incident involved Ricciardo, impacted the balance of his Toro Rosso.

Gasly reveals that his car was sliding all over the place because of the damage sustained, which meant he had to settle for 14th place.

"At the beginning of the race, I was blocked in Turn 1 and 2 and lost a couple of places," the Frenchman told The Checkered Flag. "Very soon I had an incident with Fernando and my floor got damaged on the right side, after that I had another collision with Daniel which compromised the rear.

"In these conditions, the car was sliding everywhere and the race was pretty much over for me, it was vey difficult to go to the end."

The Toro Rosso man admitted that the race was going to be difficult for his team but said the damage made it even harder.

"We knew it would have been a difficult race for us but the damage to the car made it even trickier, I did the maximum I could but we lost the pace shown during the weekend," Gasly explained.

"I just need to forget about it and start focusing on Singapore, which is a track where we normally can do very well."
