Carlos Sainz Jr. and Max Verstappen often collided (literally and figuratively) in their time at Toro Rosso in 2015 and 2016, but the Spaniard has now revealed that he actually gets along fine with the Dutchman, despite what people think.

Sainz and Verstappen got the promotion to the Formula One in the same year (2015), and as young drivers tend to be, they were both overly eager to show the world they belonged there. They both clearly did, but their competitive spirit caused them to bud heads on a pretty regular basis.

However, as time passed, the relationship has gotten much better, and they get along alright now, according to the soon-to-be McLaren driver.

"I know there have been some clashes between me and Max when we drove together, but I think my relationship with him his much better than people think," Sainiz told FormulaPassion.

"We've always respected each other and we had fun, and we've both enjoyed racing each other.

"Maybe we're both a little egoistic as we're both very competitive, but I'd say we get along well.

"Better than people might think."

The public perception definitely was that the two didn't get along very well after their many clashes at Toro Rosso, so for Sainz to say this is quite eye-opening! Time heals all wounds, as they say...

Next, we'd like to see Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg make amends and go back to their former friendship. We hope it's not too late for that already!
