After his scary crash and difficult race in Italy at Monza, Marcus Ericsson is keen to get back in the car and show what he can do in Singapore this weekend.

During Friday practice for the Italian Grand Prix, the DRS flap on Ericsson’s Sauber did not close as he broke for turn one, which sent the car into a spin, and the barriers.

Four barrel rolls and forces of up to 25G later, his car came to rest and the Swede was luckily uninjured and able to partake in the rest of the weekend.

However, he only managed to finish P15 in the race, well behind his team mate Charles Leclerc, who secured P11.

Ericsson is now looking to break his duck at Singapore by scoring his fifth points finish of the season and adding to his tally of six so far.

Ericsson said: “As a team, we are eager to bounce back after a difficult weekend in Italy, and we are determined to fight for a good result again.”

He also spoke about the difficulty of the Singapore Grand Prix for the drivers:  “It is also one of the toughest races of the year, with extreme heat and humidity making it challenging to drive, both physically and mentally.”
