"Red Bull look quick" admits rival

Red Bull have a thing for street circuits it seems. Their car suits the twisty nature of some tracks and Singapore looks to be another one of those for the team this season.

Daniel Ricciardo produced a stunning display to win every session of this year’s Monaco Grand Prix and despite Max Verstappen saying that he does not believe Red Bull have what it takes to fight for pole, Sebastian Vettel disagrees and believes they will be right in the mix this weekend.

Ricciardo topped a Red Bull one-two in FP1 with Vettel third and after the German’s scrape in FP2, Red Bull went on to secure third and fourth, this time with the Dutchman on top.

Verstappen qualified second in Singapore last year and Ricciardo has recorded four consecutive podiums at the circuit since joining Red Bull, including second place in the last three events.

Vettel has won at the Marina Bay circuit on four occasions but believes that the Red Bull duo will provide a stern test this weekend.

“I think it is very close with all the three teams,” he said. “I think Red Bull is maybe closer, they looked quick. We won’t really know before Sunday but obviously here the qualifying is important so we will see where we are tomorrow.”
