Sergio Perez is confident his team can reverse their performance in Singapore. He expects his pink car to lift itself up the grid in Russia, as he targets a serious point hull in an event he likes.

The 28-year-old is yet to sign a deal for next season, but yesterday told the media an announcement should be expected soon. Looking ahead to the weekend, Perez is excited about the prospect of the Russian event. In the pre-race weekend preview on the Force India website, the Mexican highlights his podium achievement in 2015.

“The Russian Grand Prix brings up some really great memories from three years ago when I finished on the podium," Perez said.

"It was an unexpected result, in a way, and I remember the struggle at the end of the race because I had nothing left of my tyres. It was a fantastic day for us. I quite like Sochi: the event is getting bigger and better every year and they try really hard to put on a good race.

The Pink Panther driver is currently placed 10th in the championship while his team are on their way up following a point reset. He's confident he'll contribute to the tables after a disappointing Singapore Grand Prix.

“I am feeling positive about this weekend and I think we’ll be competitive," Perez added.

"Singapore did not bring us the result we expected but the performance and balance of the car were very good. If we can carry that pace forward to Sochi, we should expect a strong result."

Since the team pushed the reset button in Belgium, they've been able to bring significant upgrades to their 2018 car. Perez confirms the Russian Grand Prix will be no exception on the upgrade front.

"I think the new upgrades still have some potential to unlock and hopefully we will be able to do so in Russia," Perez concludes.
