Williams driver Lance Stroll is set to get his first miles in a Racing Point Force India car as he will will drive for the team in Abu Dhabi after the season has ended.

Stroll still hasn't been confirmed as a Force India driver in 2019 despite his father taking over the team, but this should take all doubts away if there were any. Force India is likely waiting to announce Stroll until it has found a solution regarding the future of their current driver Esteban Ocon, who has limited options for the 2019-season with Stroll taking his seat.

Still, that doesn't stop the Silverstone-based team from announcing that the Canadian will test for them in Abu Dhabi, as they're eager to find out how he will perform in the car that they have prepared for 2019.

Force India team principal Otmar Szafnauer commented on the announcement of Stroll doing tests for them.

"I think Abu Dhabi it would be good to have the second driver in the car to get some mileage," he told Motorsport.

"The Abu Dhabi test is all about next year. Although it is with this year's car, it is with next year's tyres, so it is all about understanding next year's tyres."

When asked about the announcement of Stroll, Szafnauer admitted that Force India is waiting until Ocon has made his decision before they move on to Stroll.

"It is just out of courtesy to Esteban until he knows what he is doing. It would be nice for Esteban to announce his own thing."
