After another outstanding performance that saw him finish best of the rest, Sauber rookie Charles Leclerc admitted that he was very happy indeed to finish where he did, as Sauber grabbed more vital points to solidify eighth place in the championship.

The Monegasque rookie finished where he started, but was clinical in his race. He did well to steer away from contact in the first lap before pulling away from the midfield. He even found himself amongst the top after they had all made a pit stop.

All in all, a very positive day for the 21-year-old, who showed yet again that he has all the talent to take the next step at Ferrari next season as he finished best of the rest for the second race in a row.

“I am very happy with the race, finishing in 7th place is a positive result that we can be satisfied with,” Leclerc told Crash.net.

“It was fun to drive on this track and adding more points to our tally to solidify our eighth position in the Constructors’ Championship is a positive feeling for the whole team. I look forward to seeing what we can do in Abu Dhabi.”

Sauber are now nine points clear of Toro Rosso in the constructors' championship with just the one race in Abu Dhabi remaining. If they manage to hang on to eighth, it would be their best season in F1 since 2013.
