Grosjean on incredible midfield battle

Grosjean on "incredible" midfield battle

15-11-2018 19:24

With the battle for the drivers’ and constructors’ now over, attention turns to the midfield battle and we can see how tight it is between several drivers from plenty of different teams.

Nico Hulkenberg looks set to be the ‘best of the rest’ as he sits on 69 points, but Sergio Perez, Kevin Magnussen, Fernando Alonso, Esteban Ocon and Carlos Sainz are all within 25 points of the German driver.

Those six drivers represent four different teams, which makes you wonder what F1 would look like without the big three teams of Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull, who have monopolised the race wins this season.

In fact, Perez is the only driver to even make a podium, and Grosjean spoke about the matter.

He said: "If you took away the top three teams, the races would be incredible.

"You would have Sauber, Toro Rosso, Haas, Force India ... the races would be good.

"In each race, another car is in pole position, another wins and there are five tenths of a second between P7 and P15. That challenges us to get better.”
