Lando Norris wants McLaren to keep links with Alonso for advice

Lando Norris has said advice coming from Fernando Alonso would be very welcome during the 2019 season. He says Alonso's experience and knowledge of the McLaren car will help the team on their mission to improve.

The driver line-up goes through a double change as Stoffel Vandoorne also leaves to race in Formula E. But that's not all. The factory will also face change as they look to build an IndyCar ready for Alonso's Indy500 challenge.

Norris, keen to pick up further advice, says anything from Alonso will be worth taking on board.

"I think it'll be very valuable. He's obviously got the best idea of how the car has changed over the year, the best experience of what's good and what's bad - a lot more than I do," Norris told Crash.

"Obviously, I don't know what's going to happen, if he's still going to be part of McLaren, he still is part of McLaren, I guess a lot is up to him. But I think there’s a long way to go until we see what he wants to do and if he wants to get in an F1 car again.”

So far, Alonso has confirmed plans for the Indy500 and Daytona 24 after he finishes work in the WEC in June.
