Pirelli have sought the 'expert' advice of drivers and their teams to help them decide which tyre compounds to make available for the start of the 2019 season.

Many teams and drivers had criticised Pirelli ever since F1 asked them to make a high degradation tyre. Having come under such scrutiny for the soft tyres which blistered and overheated far too easily, Pirelli has decided to get more input from the drivers to try and give them what they want.

Pirelli F1 boss Mario Isola joined a Grand Prix Drivers Association in Brazil and has continued to look for input by inviting more contributions to the compound selection process to be made.

"For the selection we are trying to involve the teams and drivers," said Isola to Autosport.

"We would like the expert opinion, it will be a bit more complicated but we will try to do our best to make the best selection."

The Pirelli boss has made it clear that they will still run their own tests and any feedback will avoid being driven my teams agendas.

"We will have different feedback but my question was not just 'give me feedback on what you believe is the best choice', but also, 'why?'.

"Is it because you believe you're stronger or have more strategies, or what?

"I hope to have the feedback. It is not an obligation. Just a way to work together and see the result."

Pirelli will announce their tyre compounds for the season opener in Australia by Thursday.
