Red Bull think new front wings "will only make the gap bigger"

Red Bull Racing's team principal Christian Horner has said that the new front wings that are being introduced in 2019 won't make much of a difference, as the Brit thinks it will only make the gap bigger.

After years of developing the most complex, downforce-generating front wings, the FIA have now opted to make the front wings a lot more simple, with the goal to produce 'cleaner air' behind the cars, making it more advantageous to be in someone's slipstream.

Horner is not convinced that this will have that big of a positive impact.

"It will have some effect, but only a little," he told Motorsport.com.

"One team will get the hang of the new front wings, the other less so.

"But because Mercedes and Ferrari voted in favour of it, it got pushed through. Now, you'll get even bigger differences because some teams will profit and some teams won't."

It will be interesting to see how a team like Red Bull will adapt to the new front wings, as the Bulls are usually for their excellent chassis and downforce in general. Will the new rule be favourable for them?
