There were numerous complaints from drivers and teams last season of the Pirelli tyres that were being used, having blisters and making it a more difficult drive for the drivers.

However, Pirelli have now insisted the blisters are a thing of the past as we prepare for the 2019 season in Formula One.

For 2019, there will be thinned rubber on the tyres; with them already being tested at the Yas Marinas Circuit during the end of the season testing, but few conclusions could be made from the testing.

"On this circuit, you can mask the differences in some conditions a bit, I think they will start to feel the differences on several circuits," Mario Isola said to RaceFans. "If I compare only the decrease of the thickness of the tread, then that is one of the new characteristics.

"Which we have decided to implement on the new tyres, which greatly reduces the blisters in Barcelona, Paul Ricard and Silverstone.

"In Barcelona, we had a clear comparison to all teams, but for example at Silverstone, where we tested for the development of the tyres, we compared the normal version with the reduced version and it was clear that the normal version would blister a lot, but the reduced version was much better.

"So I believe that on circuits where the energy level is higher, we will probably get more confirmation of the differences of the new tyres, and in Abu Dhabi we did not have any blisters either, so it's hard to compare here. The tyres are not a revolution compared to last season, but it is not such a big change as in 2017."
