Helmut Marko has said that Red Bull has revived Adrian Newey's passion for Formula 1.

In recent years Newey has been working on multiple projects outside of Formula 1. The engineer was part of Ben Ainslie's Americas Cup team and Ashton Martins Hypercar Valkyrie.

Red Bull's motorsport advisor, Helmut Marko, believes that Red Bulls switch to Honda has re-sparked Newey's passion for Formula 1.

"Newey doesn't want a normal working day anymore," said Marko to motorsport.com.

"He is working for us on a daily allowance. He was very fascinated and interested in the Valkyrie project.

"You always need new tasks for him. If Newey knows that you have no chance with the engine, then you don't have the same Newey as now.

"We've found a way to meet his personal needs," Marko said. "It brings value to the team for us."

When asked about Newey's future at Red Bull Marko said that they have, "so far averted all poaching attempts".

"Newey's a crucial factor," he added. "When the new aerodynamic rules came, we were completely off. By Barcelona, we had a competitive car again.

"That's Newey. He sees what's not right, even in the design stage, without all the technical data.

"He can tell you: 'That won't work'."

It is clear that Newey is a vital part of the Red Bull team and he is greatly involved in getting Red Bull back to winning ways.
