Four time F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel has said that he is happy to give Mick Schumacher advice before he embarks on his first season in Formula 2 in 2019.

Schumacher Jr, son of seven time world champion Michael Schumacher won the European F3 title last year and will be racing for Prema Racing this season, in the class below F1.

Schumacher joined the Ferrari Driver Academy in January of this year and will hope to one day emulate his father and race for the famous team.

Asked by RTL if Schumacher’s arrival to the academy was more meaningful to him than others, Vettel replied: "Honestly, no. First and foremost because we've already known each other for a long time, I got to know him when he was a little boy.

"Now of course it's nice for him to see that he has gone on. He's done very well and I think he will do his job [here] well too.

"At the moment when we spend time together or talk or whatever, it's only for a short time, but he knows that if he ever has any questions then he can come to me any time."
