Haas F1 boss Guenther Steiner thinks his team is "jinxed" after another issue occurred during the pit stops at the Australian Grand Prix which caused one of their drivers to retire, as Romain Grosjean had a front suspension failure shortly after his stop.

In 2018, of course, Haas had a nightmare with the pit stops in Melbourne. Both Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen, who were doing tremendously in the race as they were in the top five, had their new tyres not properly bolted on when they pitted. It caused both drivers to retire from the race.

In 2019, Grosjean had problems during his stop again, as the front left tyre took an unusual amount of time to bolt on. A couple of laps after the stop, that front left wheel was wobbling, and Grosjean had to retire. Steiner can't believe his luck.

“In the pit stop there was an issue as we lost seven seconds and the race was lost there even if he could get to the end,” he told Crash.net.

“He wouldn’t have got in the points, that was the issue, then they got the wheel back on.

“We didn’t lose the wheel like last year, but after 15 laps it mechanically broke as we forced it on. The wheel nut broke.

“It just seems to be jinxed. It is very strange like last year. After Melbourne we had 20 races without a problem then we come back here and we have a problem.”
