Vandoorne on Formula E: "quality here is even better than that of the complete F1"

Stoffel Vandoorne believes the Formula-E grid is equal to, if not better than the Formula 1 version just months after leaving following one season in motorsport’s premier division. The former McLaren driver has had a tough start in Formula-E but he thinks his new class is more competitive than F1.

Vandoorne was given a seat at HWA but has failed to score points in any of his 5 races in the all-electric series despite starting on pole in Hong Kong. The one-season McLaren driver has had his say on the competitiveness of the two divisions and provided an interesting take on the subject.

"I think the level here is extremely high if you want to say the name of a driver who does not deserve to be here it is impossible because they are all professionals,” Vandoorne told AS.

“There are some who were in F1 and others who did not succeed but who won important championships.

“I think maybe the quality here is even better than that of the complete F1 grid.

“I think there [Formula 1] they are the highest level, but there are also pilots that maybe are ... less good, let's say,” added the Belgian.
