The FIA has confirmed that a hearing regarding Sebastian Vettel's penalty at the Canadian Grand Prix will be held on Friday following Ferrari's request to review the incident.

Vettel was hit with a five-second time penalty for rejoining the track in an unsafe manner while battling Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton for the lead in Canada two weeks ago, costing the Ferrari driver victory.

After initially notifying the FIA of its intention to appeal the penalty, Ferrari withdrew it, but confirmed it would be using its right of review for the incident to get a second look.

Ferrari is required to provide new evidence that was not originally available to support its case, which will be heard by the Canadian Grand Prix stewards at Paul Ricard on Friday at 2:15pm ahead of this weekend's French Grand Prix, as confirmed by the FIA on Thursday.

Under the FIA International Sporting Code: "The stewards shall have the sole discretion to determine if a significant and relevant new element exists. The decision of the stewards as to whether or not such an element exists is not subject to appeal before the national court of appeal or the International Court of Appeal."
