McLaren team principal Andreas Seidl has confirmed the team will build its own wind tunnel at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking over the next two years, with the team having used Toyota's wind tunnel in Germany for the past decade.

The team has had a very good Saturday in France, with Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz qualifying in fifth and sixth respectively, with P5 being the best grid position for a McLaren car since Austria 2016, when Jenson Button put his car on P3 at a soaking wet Red Bull Ring.

Just over two hours after qualifying, Seidl confirmed McLaren will be building their own wind tunnel at the MTC in Woking. This should significantly improve the team's efficiency in developing and engineering new cars, as they had to travel to Cologne in Germany for the last decade to make use of Toyota's wind tunnel at their facility.

Seidl said the construction should be complete in about two years' time. The next step in McLaren's road back to winning ways?
