Palmer realistic on the spending power of Aston Martin if Honda pull out
Things are pretty good for Red Bull at the moment and Aston Martin CEO, Andy Palmer has suggested the title sponsor could be prepared to help out more, depending on the situation of Honda but was realistic on the funds available.
Red Bull changed to a Honda power unit for the 2019 season and have surprised many with Max Verstappen third in the Drivers' Championship and the Dutchman won at their home race in Austria.
Despite Honda surprising everyone with their results, their contract does not go beyond 2020. However, Aston Martin CEO, Andy Palmer believes the company could have more input on the team but it all depends on Honda.
"The obvious place for Aston to become involved in would have been the engine," Palmer said at the launch of the Valkyrie as quoted by Autosport.
"I think that's a question on whether Honda continues to develop the engine."
Palmer was realistically though on the spending power of the company, adding: "Clearly they have a lot more money and musclepower than we do. I don't think we're going to muscle in on that while the relationship with Honda exists.
