Lando Norris disappointed after a "manic" German Grand Prix

Lando Norris believes that a points finish would have been possible at the "manic" German Grand Prix. The McLaren driver started at the back of the grid due to a PU penalty and it was the first time he had ever driven a Formula 1 car in the wet. Norris was gaining places up the grid but a loss of power meant he had to retire from the race.

“The start was tricky because of poor visibility and it was still very slippery even on Wets," Norris said. "Everything was going okay, making up some positions here and there when we didn’t box under the first Safety Car, which in hindsight may have been the wrong decision.

“I made up a couple more places after boxing onto Inters and my pace was good before I stopped for slicks, as it had dried just about enough. I got ahead of the Toro Rosso immediately after that stop on the back straight.

"Things were looking good but then the car lost power. It’s a shame as points were definitely possible in what was a manic race.”

Norris will be upset not to have scored any points but will have the chance to redeem the performance at the Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend.
