Alexander Albon made the mid-season switch up to Red Bull from Toro Rosso but he's admitted that he intends to avoid any pressure or expectations which are set on him. He made his debut for Red Bull at the Belgian Grand Prix, replacing Pierre Gasly who had been struggling.

It took Albon just 12 senior races at Toro Rosso to earn his promotion after some promising early finishes which included a fifth-place finish on his debut.

“I haven’t had a list to do this, do that, be here, be there,” Albon said on the F1’s official Beyond the Grid podcast.

“Of course we want to take the fight to Ferrari and Mercedes, that’s quite clear.

"The main thing right now has been just trying to get up to speed and not put pressure on yourself and put expectations on yourself, so early with Red Bull.

The 23-year-old secured a sixth-placed finish last time out at Monza to continue his fine start to life at Red Bull.

"It’s just about giving myself that time and not stressing exactly that very thing of not putting targets on myself, and just letting the natural evolution occur.

“If that’s fighting for podiums at the end of the year, that’s great, but I’m not putting myself in that situation.”
