Carlos Sainz ready to make most of important milestone at United States Grand Prix

McLaren driver Carlos Sainz is looking forward to take part in a "really significant moment" at the United States Grand Prix where he will drive his 100th Formula 1 race at just 25-years-old.

Sainz took part in his debut F1 season in 2015, where he drove 19 races for Toro Rosso - scoring 18 points - before scoring 46 for the same team during the next season in 2016.

Sainz continued his impressive form at Toro Rosso and went even better in 2017; scoring 54 points, and the next season, Renault signed the Spanish driver to partner Nico Hulkenberg. In that season, Sainz scored 53 points in 21 races.

However, it took the 25-year-old until 2019 to receive his first permanent Formula 1 contract, when McLaren announced their brand-new driver line-up with Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne being replaced by Sainz and Lando Norris.

"The US Grand Prix is a very special event for me, marking my 100th Formula 1 start," Sainz said. "To be an F1 driver has been my dream and my ambition for as long as I can remember, so to be hitting my 100th race at only 25-years-old is a really significant moment.

"After a tough Sunday in Mexico, the whole team is willing to hit the track again at Austin this week. It is important that we keep focused and working hard until the last race. COTA is one of the most exciting tracks on the calendar and always delivers interesting racing, with the entire first sector being very fun to drive in these F1 cars.

"Getting Turn One right can really pay off later in that sector, so I look forward to jumping back in the car on Friday and getting set up for quali and the race."
