Magnussen: Haas can "turn the situation around" quicker than likes of Williams

After the worst year in his team's history, Haas driver Kevin Magnussen is convinced the American side can turn things around quickly and will not be in a slump like Williams has been in recently.

After joining the grid in 2016, Haas finished their first two years in eighth place in the constructors' championship. In 2018, they made a leap, challenging Renault for top spot in the midfield and ultimately finishing fifth behind the French works team.

In 2019, however, they tumbled down the grid. After another promising start to the season, things got worse as the year progressed as they ended penultimate in the constructors', only beating Williams who scored a single point.

Magnussen, who scored 21 of the team's 29 points last season, trusts his team will turn the ship around quickly, however, with the Dane not worried they will go into a multiple-year slump.

"I don't think that's going to happen here," 'K-Mag' told Motorsport-Total.com when asked whether he fears Haas could fall like Williams currently or like McLaren a few years ago.

"I think we can turn the situation around faster and find our way. I am convinced that we can do it."

Magnussen has been at Haas since 2017, being replaced by Nico Hulkenberg at his former team Renault. The two have had a disliking for each other ever since.

The 27-year-old spoke on how he enjoyed the first years of being at Haas after Renault, with the Americans making big strides in 2017 and 2018.

"It was a pleasure to see a team that was on the up rather than going backwards," he said, potentially referencing to Renault.

"It's just a more positive experience. You feel the growth, the improvements and the excitement about it.

"In the first three years, we made enormous steps forward. Maybe it didn't look that big, but within three years, progressing from eighth to fifth is pretty good."
