Racing Point has confirmed the launch date for its 2020 Formula 1 car ahead of the new season.

Racing Point will unveil its new car, the RP20, at an event in Mondsee, Austria, on February 17, two days before the start of pre-season testing.

The launch event will take place at the Austrian base of BWT, one of the team's principal sponsors.

It marks the second year in a row Racing Point has elected to do a full car launch, having previously unveiled its 2019 car in Canada to mark the start of its new brand following the takeover of Force India. Force India had traditionally rolled its car out at the start of pre-season testing.

Racing Point will enter the 2020 season looking to build on its seventh-place finish in last year's constructors' championship as the team bounced back from the difficulties faced in the final stages of its Force India ownership in 2018.

Sergio Perez managed to lead the team by scoring 52 of its 73 points, recording a highest finish of sixth in Azerbaijan and Belgium. Teammate Lance Stroll scored the remaining 21 points, but bagged the team's best result of the year with fourth at the German Grand Prix.

Racing Point is the sixth team to confirm its launch plans, and is currently has the latest reveal date, taking place just two days before the start of pre-season testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

The new F1 season begins on March 15 with the Australian Grand Prix.
