Kevin Magnussen: It's always difficult to say whether you are competitive or not

Kevin Magnussen: "It's always difficult to say whether you are competitive or not"

Kevin Magnussen put in a massive shift for Haas today in the first day of testing and clocked up 106 laps, the most a Haas driver has ever driven during a testing day. The Danish racer was pleased with how things went and is looking forward to seeing how his teammate finds the car.

"I feel tired! It was a long day," Magnussen said. "That's a positive thing as we got lots of running done and that's what we needed, especially on the first day, just to try and get to know the car and collect a lot of data.

"It felt good. It's always difficult to say whether you are competitive or not but the feeling was good in the car. We can go faster but so can everyone. It's early days but positive feelings so far."

"We had a very tight test plan for the day. We got most of it done but we missed one run at the end compared to what we were planning on. Getting that close to the plan is spot on.

"It's going to be interesting to get Romain Grosjean in the car tomorrow and see what his feedback is. It's going to be interesting to see what he says and how the car reacts to the different setups and changes we throw at the car."

Haas had a poor season last time out and will hope that their new VF20 will be more competitive and that they will be back fighting in the midfield.
