Haas F1 team principal Guenther Steiner has insisted the team will know what "certain parts and pieces" they will need by the time the Australian Grand Prix comes around in mid-March.

Steiner has explained that by the time we get to the first race of the season on March 15, the Haas F1 team will know which parts and pieces are needed for each setup, as they aim to improve on last season's poor showing.

“We are continuning with our test programme, we have a test program and we tried to learn as much as possible, we run the car in all conditions and setups to get information," Steiner said exclusively to GPblog.

"When we get to Melbourne we know what certain parts and pieces and certain changes will do for the setup."

The Haas team boss was also asked about the coronavirus situation that is effecting people from everywhere on the planet, as well as impacting what is happening in Formula 1.

However, Steiner was unable to give an update, with races in Bahrain and Vietnam now under serious threat, with the Chinese Grand Prix already being postponed earlier this month.

"I have no idea. I live like you guys, the situation changes every hour here. It's a full-time job to keep up with it. I think F1 is monitoring what is happening and they will tell us when it's appropriate," Steiner said in a press conference with GPblog present.

"The developments there are, things can change every hour. I'm not an expert in it. We just take advice from F1 and hopefully the world can take control of this disease."
